Indicators in this index model were determined through a review of the literature and current practices, small area data availability, and stakeholder input. All data indicators are normalized to account for population density differences. The MCIC Community Vitality Index provides a composite score, made up of three mapable categories:

 


Values for each component score range from 1 (lowest observed value) to 100 (highest observed value). The values are averaged and then ranked together to produce the Community Vitality Index score for each tract.

Regional benchmarks for minimum, median, mean, and maximum values, as well as Community Vitality Index scores allow you to see how your area of interest compares to the region as a whole.
