RESEARCH ASSISTANT – DATA MANAGER

Description

The Research Assistant – Data Manager provides primary and secondary research support and assistance across a broad range of special projects, internal initiatives and ongoing organizational pursuits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update current secondary data library to support MCIC research
  • Source and procure new datasets to enrich the data library
  • Maintain a system of cataloguing secondary data in an easily searchable metadatabase, for example, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) is released annually. Our research assistant – Data Manager would retrieve the data online when it was available, understand and write metadata about changes in HMDA reporting that may effect the data, use SPSS programming skills to process individual records into useful aggregate datasets based on the needs of the organization and current progress, and update existing files with key variables.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement appropriate subscriber support services
  • Analyze primary and secondary datasets while adhering to MCIC quality control and data transformation procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new data products and services to meet client needs.

Qualifications

  • General understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and a broad knowledge of nonprofit agency information needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, SPSS, FoxPro, GIS/mapping, PowerPoint, and/or other spreadsheet and data analysis software and programming skills
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and reliable follow-through habits, to function in a project-based, multi-function, team environment.
  • Bilingual a plus.
